Dave Matthews Band to release Live Trax 5 for RSDBF 2015 - 17 October 2015.

Note:  This photo is concept art I made last year and not official art.

Last year, I made this post for what I'd like to see released this year by DMB in the vinyl world. I'm surprised to see that one of my picks is actually making the cut. Though I had hoped LT5 would come for Record Store Day, I'm glad it's coming at all. Wax Poetic, which is one of the most reliable websites for Record Store Day rumors and information, has posted this tidbit of information today.

Dave Matthews Band. Live Trax Volume 5 (180g 4LP box set on Pink Vinyl limited to 2000 copies. 8/23/95 Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, MI)

The official information for Live Trax 5 says, " 8.23.1995 at the Meadow Brook Music Festival, Rochester Hills, MI. This show took place during the tour for Under the Table and Dreaming, DMB’s first release on RCA Records. Dave Matthews Band was just beginning to move from playing smaller clubs and theatres to playing larger amphitheater settings. This release is another crew favorite. David Ryan Harris, guitarist for Dionne Farris’ band, performed with DMB during six songs of the concert. Rhyme and Reason is a notable song featuring David Ryan Harris harmonizing on guitar with the violin and saxophone parts of the song. A twelve minute Exodus, played rarely in DMB history, was also a highlight of this show. Jimi Thing is also exceptional at fifteen minutes. The encore begins with a soulful solo performance of Typical Situation by Dave Matthews and then explodes into All Along the Watchtower also featuring David Ryan Harris."

Record Store Day: Black Friday 2015 (Rumors). 2 October 2015.

It's that time of year again, and we're closing in on Record Store Day: Black Friday. My favorite rumor blog for Record Store Day, Wax Poetic, is no longer updating, so we're having to do a lot more searching for rumors. The Steve Hoffman Forum has a thread with a lot of info in it, so this list of rumors is pulled from several posts in that thread. Some of these sound pretty legit, so I'm pretty excited about it. Anyways, here's the rumors for this year's upcoming RSDBF.

Chicago Area TV/Movie Film Locations - 1 August 2015.

If you've seen my blog posts in the past, you've probably noticed I like to visit filming locations for my favorite TV shows and movies. I visited several Dexter locations in Long Beach, California, many Breaking Bad locations in and around Albuquerque and several Walking Dead locations in and around Atlanta.  This week, I was passing through Chicago on the way home from a Dave Matthews Band show and stopped in Chicago to visit filming locations for a few of my favorite TV shows and movies: Championship Vinyl from High Fidelity, the Bundy household from Married With Children and the Gallagher house from Shameless.

Championship Vinyl, High Fidelity.
Actual Location:  Now a retail store in Chicago.
Physical Address: 1500 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622

The building looks a little more cleaned up, but easy to tell what it is.
Buddy Household, Married With Children.
Actual Location:  A quiet neighborhood in Deerfield.
Physical Address: 641 Castlewood Ln, Deerfield, IL 60015

The house has changed a bit over the years, but it still looks very much like the Bundy household.
Gallagher House, Shameless.
Actual Location:  Neighborhood in South Side Chicago.
Physical Address: 2119 S Homan Ave, Chicago, IL 60623

This one is easy to spot and very easily recognizable.

Prison Break Filming Locations - 1 August 2015.

Prison Break is one of my favorite shows, firmly seated in my Top 10 list of all time favorite TV shows. If you've seen my blog posts in the past, you've probably noticed I like to visit filming locations for my favorite TV shows. I visited several Dexter locations in Long Beach, California, many Breaking Bad locations in and around Albuquerque and several Walking Dead locations in and around Atlanta.  But there's two locations I've been wanting to visit for many years - the filming locations for Fox River Penitentiary (Prison Break, Season 1) and the Penitenciaría Federal de Sona (Prison Break, Season 3). In the show, Fox River was in Joliet, Illinois, which is where the filming location actually is. For Sona, the show said it was in Panama, but it was interesting to discover that it's actually in Fort Worth, Texas! This week, I was passing through Chicago on the way home from a Dave Matthews Band show and stopped in Joliet to visit Fox River. And yesterday, I was in Dallas picking my daughter up and cruised through Fort Worth to check out the location for Sona.

Fox River Penitentiary, Prison Break Season 1.
Actual Location: The former Joliet Correctional Center, now closed.
Physical Address: 1127-1299 Collins St, Joliet, IL 60432.

This is the outside wall seen in the opening.
Fox River Penitentiary, Prison Break Season 1.
Actual Location: The former Joliet Correctional Center, now closed.
Physical Address: 1127-1299 Collins St, Joliet, IL 60432

This is one of the guard towers.
Fox River Penitentiary, Prison Break Season 1.
Actual Location: The former Joliet Correctional Center, now closed.
Physical Address: 1127-1299 Collins St, Joliet, IL 60432

This is the main building, seen in a few shots throughout season 1.
Penitenciaría Federal de Sona, Prison Break Season 3.
Actual Location: The former Swift-Armor Meat Packing Plant in the Fort Worth Stockyards.
Physical Address: 600 E Exchange Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76164.

These guard towers were built for the show and still remain on the property.

Penitenciaría Federal de Sona, Prison Break Season 3.
Actual Location: The former Swift-Armor Meat Packing Plant in the Fort Worth Stockyards.
Physical Address: 600 E Exchange Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76164.

There are fences all around the property but you can get a good look at it from the road.

Next DMBLive - 4/5/95 - The Academy (Acoustic). 20 March 2015.

The next DMBLive release is going to be from New York's "The Academy" venue, and is an acoustic show from April 5th, 1995

It's been a while since we've had a DMBLive release, and even though Live Trax 33 is just around the corner, it's always nice to get a little DMBLive release.

This one contains a pretty solid setlist, including the first time #40 was played live.  Hopefully with the recently acoustic tracks released on the new Warehouse disc and this DMBLive release, the band will start to get more experimental with the acoustic set for the 2015 Summer Tour!

Look for this to be officially announced soon.

Chris Hansen is Back With "Hansen Vs Predator". 14 March 2015.

I was recently made aware of a tweet by Chris Hansen, formerly of Dateline NBC's popular show "To Catch A Predator".  The show aired from 2004 to 2007, but lives on in repeats and YouTube videos that are immensely popular.  "To Catch A Predator" was a hidden camera show where men would attempt to solicit underage women online for sexual encounters and show up at a house where Chris Hansen and a camera crew were waiting for them, along with, in some cases, the local police department.  The show was very entertaining, but also eye opening to the reality of sexual predators.

When you click the link following "Why don't you....", it goes to the website HansenVPredator.com which appears to be the name of the new show, "Hansen Vs Predator".  The countdown ends on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 2:00 AM which will more than likely be the official announcement of the new show, or the new show's debut.  No further news is available about the show, it's format, or the network that will be carrying it.  I, for one, couldn't be more excited about the return of this fantastic show.  Not just for it's entertainment value, but to see how things have changed since 2007 with how men attempt to find underage women online.  With the advent of SnapChat, Instagram, Facebook and Craigslist Personals - it will be interesting to see how things have changed.

We will update this post as more info is made available!

2015 DMB Warehouse Tracklisting - 18 February 2015.

The DMB Warehouse fan club has unveiled the track list for their 2015 member package, and I must say - it's quite a solid disc. I knew some acoustic tracks from 2014 would be on this, but the rest is just as awesome. I give this release a thumbs up.

It does beg the question - with Let You Down being released acoustically on this disc - is 2015 the year we see the song return?  Hmm...

Back to Wax - High Fidelity Soundtrack. 16 February 2015.

According to a post from Modern Vinyl, one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time is coming back to vinyl - the soundtrack to John Cusack's film "High Fidelity". They're reporting a release date of April 28th, 2015 - which is pretty close to Record Store Day (April 18th, 2015), so perhaps we'll see some RSD limited variants. The German pressing and the European pressing have been on my wantlist for quite some time, so I'm rather stoked to have a chance to nab a new pressing.  Hopefully it'll be a quality pressing.  We'll update this post as we have more information.
