The Fratelli's - Costello Music (Vinyl Reissue). 28 May 2014.

LimitedVinyl had a nice little surprise today, I found out that "Costello Music", The Fratelli's 2006 debut album, was being reissued on vinyl. I've been wanting to get my hands on a copy without paying flipper prices on eBay or Discogs, and finally got my chance. They say, "The beautiful re-issue of this much requested vinyl release is pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl, with the first 2000 copies being individually numbered and pressed on dark green transparent vinyl."  I couldn't be more excited.  I love The Fratelli's, and Costello Music is one of my all time favorite albums, so I'm definitely looking forward to giving this a spin!

I was recently in Atlanta, GA for a Dave Matthews Band concert, and remembered they filmed The Walking Dead there, so I decided to take a little tour and visit some film locations for the show. Keep in mind there were a LOT of locations used, but I just visited the major ones I wanted to check out. These are some of my favorite locations, but if you want to visit them all - check out that link and you can see more locations used in the show.

Anna Calvi and David Byrne team up for new EP, "Strange Weather". 14 May 2014.

It's been a while since "Love This Giant", the team-up album between David Byrne & St. Vincent, and I've been waiting for some new studio material. I've been digging "Fantastic Man" lately, his cover from the William Onyeabar project, but still, wanting more. DB is working with Anna Calvi on her upcoming EP, "Strange Weather".

Domino says, " Anna Calvi is to release a 5 track covers EP entitled ‘Strange Weather’, on 14th July 2014. Produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Antony and the Johnsons, Sam Amidon) and recorded in New York, the EP features covers of tracks by Suicide, David Bowie, FKA twigs, Connan Mockasin as well as a stunning collaboration with David Byrne on the title track, a cover of Keren Ann’s ‘Strange Weather’. The cover of Suicide’s Ghost Rider was recorded with drummer Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley), and Nico Muhly contributes string arrangements to the EP opener, a deconstructed organic reworking of FKA twigs’ ‘Papi Pacify'."

Byrne said in a press release, " I'm a big fan of Anna's two records... and I caught her tour after her first record at Bowery Ballroom here in NY. "Epic" I think is the word that is often used. So when Thomas Bartlett said he was going to be in the studio producing an EP of Anna doing covers I immediately agreed to join in. I was invited to suggest songs and I loved the last Keren Ann record and I thought "Strange Weather" had a haunting quality that might suit Anna.... so we did that, and Anna then suggested I join in on the Connan Mockasin track she'd done too."

I look forward to seeing what these two come up with.  The album is coming from Domino on July 15th. You can pre-order the 180 gram heavyweight vinyl here.

The track list is as follows:

1. Papi Pacify (FKA twigs)

2. I’m The Man, That Will Find You (Connan Mockasin) – featuring David Byrne
3. Ghost Rider (Suicide)
4. Strange Weather (Keren Ann) – Anna Calvi and David Byrne
5. Lady Grinning Soul (David Bowie)

David Byrne - From The Archives: Sympathy For The Devil. 13 May 2014.

If you know me, you know how big a Talking Heads and David Byrne fan I am. I was excited today to find out about a new release of David Byrne covering "Sympathy For The Devil", a Rolling Stones song, from Montreal in 1992. This is from a new, and presumably ongoing, section of David Byrne's website called, "From The Archives".

David says, " I covered Sympathy For The Devil on a tour I did in '92 with a large latin funk band. It was a late addition to the set list. This mix sounds like a board mix or maybe a monitor mix. Why did we do this? Because we could! We had a band lineup that could rock this tune... so why not? We did it as an encore number, which is where these oddball unexpected covers sometimes land. They lyrics (I had to research the real lyrics) are sometimes absolutely brilliant, sometimes silly (the Stones playing at being bad boys) and sometimes completely nonsensical. I covered Keith's guitar solo as best I could. You can hear the audience doing the "woo wooh's" in the 1st verse!

You'll notice I go into a "funny" voice about two-thirds through for certain lines. I was trying to sing like Goofy, the Disney character. Why? Well, there actually was a reason, though maybe not one good enough to justify how weird this sounds. I have long believed that the devil, should one exist, would not be some scary guy, but someone who sweetly perverts our better natures by more surreptitious means... and for me, Disney is the perfect example of that, with maybe the Olsen Twins as his consorts. So, following that logic, Goofy (the "harmless" clown minion) would be the perfect one to suggest we have some "sympathy" for the devil.
"

A history of unreleased Dave Matthews Band songs. 9 May 2014.

Not every song an artists records is a gem, a keeper, finished or released. DMB is no exception. Every studio session that DMB has went into has yielded work that has yet to see the light of day. With the recent announcement of Remember Two Things getting not only a vinyl release, but a remastered CD release with some previously unheard studio versions of "Typical Situation" and "Pay For What You Get", it's worth looking back to see what material remains that we know of that has yet to see the light of day.

Live Trax 30: The Muse. 8/16/93-8/18/93. 6 May 2014.

It's not public yet, but I was able to find the pre-order page for Live Trax 30. The pre-order page says, "The latest Live Trax series installment is drawn from three August '93 shows at The Muse on Nantucket Island. Around this time, the band was starting to multitrack a handful of their live shows with the hope of using the material to create their first album, Remember Two Things (11/9/93). None of the material on this Live Trax release has been released until now!

The band recorded portions of the three night run at The Muse. However, technical issues prevented the band from capturing all three shows in their entirety. What has been mixed and mastered is representative of a relatively new band bringing its increasingly potent live show to a new brand of listener. It’s easy to imagine the band writing and performing all summer on the island as you listen to spot-on renditions of songs that are now classics.

This compilation of The Muse shows has it all - from the first notes of Satellite to the last notes of the raging Halloween encore. Lie In Our Graves features LeRoi’s screaming sax solo; Pay For What You Get takes us back to the song’s roots as a Dave and Carter duo. Minarets>Blue Water is a powerful pairing that doesn’t exist much of anywhere in its full form. Hearing the segue here in this environment is a real treat.

Live Trax 30 is a perfect companion to the reissue of Remember Two Things and takes the listener to a certain place and sound in DMB history. There couldn’t be a more comprehensive picture of what it was to witness the band at this time.

Please note - this item is available for pre-order and will ship on or around June 13, 2014."

Harvey Danger, Dune and Godzilla - New Vinyl! 2 May 2014.

According to a foreign Amazon Listing, the Dune soundtrack is getting repressed with a May 19th release date. If you're not familiar, Toto scored the soundtrack.
Music On Vinyl shared the Godzilla trailer on their Facebook Page and said, "This looks mighty interesting... expect the Godzilla soundtrack coming soon to a turntable near you...", hopefully signifying that a vinyl release would be coming from then soon. Godzilla Green Vinyl anyone?
90's kids will remember Harvey Danger, artist of the popular Flagpole Sitta. No Sleep Records has the first pressing of their album, "Where Have All The Merrymakers Gone?" up for pre-order. Ghostbusters 10" Glow In The Dark RSD - Reissue/Repress - 1 May 2014

If you missed out on this and didn't spring for eBay prices, you're in luck. SSD has the Ray Parker Jr. Ghostbusters 10" Glow In The Dark Record Store Day release up for preorder at their website. Priced at 16.99$. It says Back-Ordered for now, but that will change shortly and you should be able to order it as long as they're in stock.

I know the title may be confusing, I'm not sure if this is a repress, a reissue, or if they held some back on RSD for a later release.
