Transformers OST (1986) coming back to vinyl! 5 November 2014.

I have been wanting to buy this for years but didn't wanna pay the flipper price people were asking on eBay and Discogs. When I saw this up for preorder on I was overjoyed. Sure, it's cheesy 80's music, but it rocks. I grew up watching Transformers and I love this movie. Music On Vinyl is releasing this on 180 gram virgin vinyl. SSD says, "The Transformers: The Movie is a 1986 animated feature film based on the animated TV series by the same name. The story takes place in 2005, 20 years after the events of the TV series' second season and serves to bridge into the third season.[3] Set to a soundtrack of synth-based incidental music and hard-driving metal music, composed by Vince DiCola, the movie has a decidedly darker tone than the television series, with detailed visuals in Toei Animation's typical anime film styling, and like G.I. Joe: The Movie, Decepticon villains that are more menacing, killing without hesitation."

1. The Touch
2. Instruments of Destruction
3. Death of Optimus Prime
4. Dare
5. Nothin's Gonna Stand in Our Way
6. The Transformers (Theme)
7. Escape
8. Hunger
9. Autobot / Decepticon Battle
10. Dare to Be Stupid

Ideas for Dave Matthews Band Vinyl in 2015. 15 October 2014.

Fans of vinyl and Dave Matthews Band have had a great couple of years. DMB management has realized that vinyl is growing, and is now catering to those fans by releasing more of the DMB catalog. Originally there wasn't much focus on quality - but lately they've started to realize that people who listen to vinyl (generally) want to listen to the best quality recording and pressing of the material possible. I've been keeping up with an article on The History of DMB on Vinyl, but let's take a quick look back on what we've seen released the past 2 years.

Live Trax 1 (Record Store Day) - 4/20/13
Live Trax 1 (Warehouse Black Vinyl) - 6/6/13
Live Trax 2 & Live Trax 3 (Record Store Day Black Friday) - 11/29/13
Live Trax 2 & Live Trax 3 (Warehouse Black Vinyl) - 12/9/13
Live Trax 4 (Record Store Day) - 4/19/14
Remember Two Things - 6/17/14
Live Trax 4 (Warehouse Black Vinyl) - 6/18-6/19/14
Recently EP (Record Store Day Black Friday) - 11/28/14
Under The Table And Dreaming - 11/24/14

So what do we have to look forward to in 2015?  I have a few suggestions.  Looking at what the past few years have looked like, I suggest that Record Store Day stick with releasing Live Trax and a Warehouse release shortly thereafter.  Going by the studio album reissues, I'd imagine two per year would be a good number.  I'm also proposing that Record Store Day Black Friday move to a campaign to release the live albums on vinyl.

Live Trax 5 Box Set
Record Store Day 2015
18 April 2015

1,500 copies pressed to limited edition maroon vinyl!

"8.23.1995 at the Meadow Brook Music Festival, Rochester Hills, MI. This show took place during the tour for Under the Table and Dreaming, DMB’s first release on RCA Records. Dave Matthews Band was just beginning to move from playing smaller clubs and theatres to playing larger amphitheater settings. This release is another crew favorite. David Ryan Harris, guitarist for Dionne Farris’ band, performed with DMB during six songs of the concert. Rhyme and Reason is a notable song featuring David Ryan Harris harmonizing on guitar with the violin and saxophone parts of the song. A twelve minute Exodus, played rarely in DMB history, was also a highlight of this show. Jimi Thing is also exceptional at fifteen minutes. The encore begins with a soulful solo performance of Typical Situation by Dave Matthews and then explodes into All Along the Watchtower also featuring David Ryan Harris."  (DMB Store Description)

15 June 2015

"Available for the first time on vinyl, Crash, DMB's second RCA release.  The record has been newly remastered from the original flat analog tapes and will be available, for the first time ever, in a 2LP 12″ vinyl version featuring an 8-page book packed with previously unpublished photographs of the band in a limited, numbered gatefold jacket. The deluxe vinyl is limited edition and lacquers were cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman.

Also included is a download card featuring the entire album and three unreleased bonus tracks, "Deed Is Done", "#36" and "Little Thing".  In addition, the newly remastered edition will also be re-released in CD and will include the three bonus tracks."  (Suggested Description based on past descriptions)

Red Rocks 95 Box Set
Record Store Day Black Friday 2015
27 November 2015

First time on vinyl!  Limited edition of 1,500 copies pressed.

"Live at Red Rocks 8.19.95 was the first of many live releases from Dave Matthews Band. It was recorded live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on August 15, 1995.   Guitarist Tim Reynolds guested with the band during the entire show. Most of the songs featured were from the band's most recent album Under the Table and Dreaming. "Ants Marching," "Satellite," "Seek Up," "Recently," and "Tripping Billies" originally appeared on the band's first album, Remember Two Things, while "Proudest Monkey," "Two Step," "Lie in Our Graves," and "Drive In Drive Out" would not appear as studio recordings until the release of Crash in 1996. "#36" was later reworked into the song "Everyday," which was included on the album of the same name in 2001. Also included is the band's cover of "All Along the Watchtower."  (Wikipedia Description)

Before These Crowded Streets
Vinyl Reissue
23 November 2015

"Vinyl reissue of the 1998 release, Before These Crowded Streets, DMB's third RCA release.

Also included is a download card featuring the entire album and three unreleased bonus tracks, "Machead", "#40" and "Get In Line".  In addition, the newly remastered edition will also be re-released in CD and will include the three bonus tracks."  (Suggested Description based on past descriptions)

Keep in mind, these are in no way confirmed or official, just my suggestions for what I would like to see in 2015 from DMB in regards to a vinyl release program.  I'm also anticipating a studio album in 2015 which will come on vinyl, along with a 7" single - so 2015 could be a very big year for DMB vinyl.

Under The Table And Dreaming vinyl coming 11/24/14! 30 September 2014.

We knew this day was coming, but weren't sure when. A listing at confirms it - November 24th, 2014 is the official release date! It's marked at $39.99 and the listing is pretty vague about source information and bonus material, so for now it basically just says it's coming.  We found out about R2T on April 24th, and Live Trax 30 was announced on May 7th about 13 days later. I'm hoping with UTTAD we see LT32 as a 1994 themed Live Trax release. I'm sure once the Warehouse adds their information they'll include info on the CD re-release as well as any bonus material that will come with it.  Will update this post as we receive more information!

From their listing:

"Coming November 24, 2014 pre-order your copy today! Orders with both pre-order and in stock items will have all in stock items shipped immediately!

This item not eligible for any further discount offers!

Vinyl Reissue of 1994 Debut Album!

Under the Table and Dreaming was the 1994 debut album from the Dave Matthews Band. The album contains the single "What Would You Say", which features Blues Travelers' John Popper on harmonica. Two other singles from the album are "Ants Marching" and "Satellite".

• Vinyl LP

1. The Best of What's Around
2. What Would You Say
3. Satellite
4. Rhyme & Reason

9. Jimi Thing

12. #34"

UPDATE 9 October 2014
The DMB Store opened their UTTAD Reissue section today, which contained info on the mastering/source material, though not who did it or where it was pressed. But via the store listing for UTTAD, we now know it was mastered from the original flat analog tapes and will be pressed to 180 gram vinyl. We also know there were new lacquers, which were cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman. The package will also include a download card and an 8 page booklet with previously unreleased photos of the band. We also now know the track list, and that the bonus tracks will not be on the actual vinyl itself.

The listing also says that Dancing Nancies and The Song That Jane Likes are previously unreleased studio tracks, so I'm assuming that means these are things we have not heard before and not from the Rutabaga Sessions/Quad City demos as I theorized recently.  Very exciting news!

Dave Matthews Band - Recently - RSD BF 2014 Release! 24 September 2014

I am celebrating another win this month. After campaigning for the 20th Anniversary of Clerks Soundtrack to be released on vinyl, ShopRadioCast announced that they would be releasing it this year. Also, back in June, I began campaigning to get the Dave Matthews Band EP, "Recently", released for Record Store Day Black Friday 2014. I found out today we won another victory, and this is confirmed as being released for RSD BF 2014!  I am very excited that DMB Management listened to the people and put this forward as the next release to follow Recently, which also gets us ready for the UTTAD Vinyl Release, presumably coming next.  I'm not sure how many are being pressed, but I'm going to assume it's a limited release.
I'm not sure if they'll use my concept art or not, but I'm hoping they go with the pumpkin cover.  This is the artwork I made in June when I started pushing for this to be the next RSD BF 2014 release from DMB.

I want to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped with this - lots of people shared my tweets and posts, or emailed management about this - thanks to everyone who worked together to help make this happen!

Updated 29 September 2014:  We have the track list courtesy of our friends at Wax Poetic, and I'm beyond pumped they're doing this.

Updated 20 October 2014: According to Record Store Day, this will be the album art for the RSDBF release of Recently. It's also listed as a "RSD First Release", meaning we'll see a second pressing elsewhere later on, presumably the Warehouse. I'm assuming this means the WH pressing will be no different from the RSDBF pressing other than the fact that the RSDBF release will be hand numbered.  Also, according th the press release, there will be 4,000 pressed - so much more easy to find than the last RSD releases.

Bryan Cranston in One Man Post-Season MLB Show. 16 September 2014.

This is fantastic.  I swear, there isn't a role I've seen Bryan Cranston in that didn't impress me in some way.  This is no exception, it's not typical of his usual work - but still just as entertaining.  This man can act.

Horton And The Kwuggerbug - Dr. Seuss. 16 September 2014.

I grew up on Dr. Seuss books. I found his books wonderful in terms of the artwork, the story, and his language style. I recently found out that a few days ago a "new" Dr. Seuss book came out, " Horton and the Kwuggerbug and more Lost Stories".   These stories originally appeared in Redbook in the 1950's.  These books contain stories featuring Horton, the Grinch and Marco - the first Dr. Seuss children's book character who made his debut in 1937.  Marco visits a popular Seuss locale, Mulberry Street.

I look forward to picking this up - not just so I can read it to my daughter, but so I can be 5 years old again and experience some Seuss tales for the very first time.

Surge is back! 15 September 2014.

I swear, I never thought this day would come. I've been following the Surge Movement for the past several years and admired their tenacity in campaigning for the return of Surge. But I didn't believe Coca Cola would recognize a grassroots movement. I was wrong.
Today, a listing on showed up to confirm that Coca Cola is indeed bringing back Surge. 90's kids rejoice! Now in 16oz cans, it'll run you 14$ for a 12 pack. Amazon says, "The same great taste from the 1990s is back, now in a larger 16-ounce can. SURGE is the bolder citrus soda that fuels a familiar rush from back in the day. Available exclusively on Amazon." So get in on it while it's here - who knows how long it'll stay around.

Because we all know the best parts of the 90's. WCW and Surge.

Clerks Soundtrack - FINALLY coming to vinyl! 4 September 2014.

In early April of this year, I started tweeting Kevin Smith and attempting to raise awareness for a vinyl release of the Clerks soundtrack for the 20th anniversary of the film, which falls in 2014. I started a petition on April 18th, and had hoped for the best, but was unsure if anything would happen.
I found out today that ShopRadioCast is releasing the Clerks Soundtrack in time for the 20th anniversary. I don't wanna say that it's because of my campaign, but I would like to think I had a part in it. This is set to be released November 11th, 2014 (the original soundtrack was released October 11th, 1994) and the film was released October 19th, 1994.  Preorders are up now at

Wale - "The Album About Nothing" project with Jerry Seinfeld. 16 August 2014.

Concept art for "The Album About Nothing" via Jack Gambro Design.

I'm a major Seinfeld fan.  But then again, who isn't?  When I first heard about the collaboration between Walle and Jerry Seinfeld, I was very intrigued.

Granted, I'm not the biggest rap fan in the world, my interest was piqued when news about this project came to light.

Just listening to "The Title Sequence" from "The Mixtape About Nothing", which features Wale rapping over the Seinfeld theme, was enough for me.

In May, 2008, Wale dropped "The Mixtape About Nothing", which featured Seinfeld themed titles, all being named "The _____________", in accordance with show titles, and featuring Seinfeld in-jokes and references and even featuring an appearance by Elaine.
Wale's 2013 album, "The Gifted", featured Jerry Seinfeld on "The Outro About Nothing".

In 2014, Wale announced "The Album About Nothing" would see a Fall 2014 release. This is some great behind the scenes footage from that session:

The exact release date in the Fall is unknown at this time, but I'll be picking it up day one. Hopefully it will see a vinyl release.

See more photos of the project from Wale's Instagram below. I'm getting more and more excited as more info, photos and videos are released!

Breaking Bad (Blue Vinyl) Release Date Update. 1 Aug 2014.

I spoke with SpaceLab9 and got an update on the Breaking Bad Blue Vinyl. This release has been pushed to August 5th, 2014 - and will be available at and in stores as well. For an early released photo of the vinyl itself, a member on shared this photo.

Obviously, demand for this release is much higher, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get my hands on one.  It was hard to get the PINKman release, so it remains to be seen how difficult this one will be to acquire.

Spongebob Squarepants 2: Sponge Out of Water (Trailer). 31 July 2014.

The trailer for the new Spongebob Squarepants movie, Sponge Out of Water, is up now, and it looks fantastic. As a grown Spongebob lover, and a father of two children - I'm quite excited for this 2015 movie release.
I'll admit, I was skeptical when I heard that CG would be used for the above water sequences, but I'll be honest - it looks great. I think the blending of animation, live action and CG is going to make this movie very unique and interesting. Reminds me of the Roger Rabbit movies, or "Cool World" back in the day, anyone remember that?

Release Date:  February 15th, 2015.

2014 Fall TV Lineup - What I'm Looking Forward To. 27 July 2014.

Premier Date:  22 September 2014
Network:  Fox
Premise:  "GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil, and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time."
Why I'm Excited:  Come on, who isn't excited about this?  I have high hopes going into this and look forward to hearing more about the backstory of not online Jim Gordon, but the heroes and villains of Gotham city.

Family Guy/Simpsons Crossover
Premier Date:  28 September 2014
Network:  Fox
"Peter and the rest of the Griffins embark on a road trip and wind up in Springfield. There, they cross paths with Homer, who graciously greets his new “albino” visitors, and the two families become fast friends. Stewie is impressed with Bart and his assortment of pranks, Lisa befriends Meg and tries to figure out exactly what it is that she’s good at, and Marge and Lois do some bonding. Meanwhile, Peter and Homer argue over which beer is better: Pawtucket or Duff."
Why I'm Excited:  After seeing the 5 minutes released after Comic Con 2014, I can't imagine the exploits the Simpsons and the Griffins will get into in this episode.  It's going to be fantastic.

5 Minute Preview Video at Entertainment Weekly:  (Link)

Premier Date:  5 October 2014
Network:  Fox
"From Emmy Award-winning writer and comedian John Mulaney (“Saturday Night Live”) comes MULANEY, a multi-camera ensemble comedy series about a rising stand-up comic trying to take his career to the next level and the friends and mentors who lift him up, hold him back and push him around."
Why I'm Excited:  When comparisons to Seinfeld immediately began being drawn, I was torn - but still interested.  I'm going into this without high expectations of this being "The Next Seinfeld", because nothing will ever be that funny, but hopeful that it will be a good show.

The Flash
Premier Date:  7 October 2014
Network:  CW
Premise:  A modern retelling of The Flash. "For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash."
Why I'm Excited:  After seeing the crossover episode on Arrow, I was increasingly excited at seeing what Grant Gustin would bring as The Flash.  I watched the leaked pilot episode, and was instantly impressed.  This series is going to be fantastic.

Premier Date:  8 October 2014
Network:  CW
Premise:  "Spoiled billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing and presumed dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow."
Why I'm Excited:  Arrow has been, easily, one of the best shows of the past several years.  It seemingly spawned a new rush of superhero TV shows.  The last 2 seasons have been fantastic, and season 3 looks to be nothing short of awesome. With Roy becoming Arsenal, the inclusion of the Atom and now Ra's al Ghul - I can't wait.

The Walking Dead
Premier Date:  12 October 2014
Network:  AMC
Premise:  From the preview, it looks as though the main crew, along with the folks from Terminus, head to Washington, DC in pursuit of the cure.
Why I'm Excited:  The Walking Dead is one of the shows along with Lost and Breaking Bad that has captivated America and will leave a legacy that well outlives it's cast, producers and fans.  It made zombies "cool".  This season looks to be one of the most exciting ones yet.

Premier Date:  24 October 2014
Network:  NBC
Premise: "Based on the wildly popular comic book series "Hellblazer" from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan, "Criminal Minds") is armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit. He fights the good fight - or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he's decided to abandon his campaign against evil until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray, and he'll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine will use his skills to travel the country, find the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows... maybe there's hope for him and his soul after all."
Why I'm Excited:  Because Constantine needs live action redeeming after the Keanu Reeves abomination. The preview looks like a serious take on the story, and one I could see as a long running series.

Emerald City
Premier Date:  Fall 2014
Network:  NBC
"Desperate for clues that will lead to the identity of her biological mother, a young woman breaks into a sinister underground facility somewhere in the Midwest. Unable to complete her mission and surrounded by security, our feisty heroine steals a K9 police dog and drives away into the night... and headlong into the path of a raging tornado. In the blink of an eye, she is transported to another world, one far removed from our own - a mystical land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. This is the fabled Land of Oz in a way you've never seen before, where wicked witches don't stay dead for long and 20-year-old Dorothy Gale becomes a headstrong warrior who holds the fate of kingdoms in her hands. You're not in Kansas anymore, and this is not your grandmother's Oz."
Why I'm Excited:  In the same vein of Once Upon A Time, this is a more grown up Oz.  I grew up on The Wizard Of Oz, and I'm very excited to see a new take on it.

Mike Tyson Mysteries
Premier Date:  Fall 2014
Network:  Adult Swim
"It's Scooby-Doo meets the A-Team... with Mike Tyson."
Why I'm Excited:  Did you not read that premise?  Take.  My.  Money.

Mission Control
Premier Date:  Fall 2014
Network:  NBC
Premise: "Houston, we have a problem! Dr. Mary Kendricks (Krysten Ritter, "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23") is a tough but brilliant aerospace engineer, leading a team of NASA scientists at the cutting edge of space exploration. The only problem is, this is the 1960s and she's a woman. Navigating the ridiculous boys' club of astronauts and engineering nerds is no easy task, but she's up to the challenge... until her boss brings on Tom (Tommy Dewey, "The Mindy Project") - a former hotshot test pilot and overall man's man - to co-manage her team. It doesn't help that he initially mistakes her for a secretary. Between him, her astronaut boyfriend Cash and her offbeat all-guy team, Mary certainly has her hands full... but at the end of the day, they all want the same thing: to get a man on the moon. It might just take a woman to get him there."
Why I'm Excited:  This new series comes from Will Ferrel and Adam McKay, and once I heard that it was reminiscent of the sense of humor found in Anchorman, I was sold.

DMB By Request Tour - What If? 24 July 2014

I was recently made aware of the Metallica By Request tour. A band doing a setlist request show isn't something new, other artists such as Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age, Hanson, Franz Ferdinand, Avenged Sevenfold, Bon Jovi, Jimmy Buffett, Motley Crue, My Morning Jacket, moe. and others have done this before.  But it was rather interesting to me to look at the set lists the fans turned in and see what the results would look like.

So I decided to put it to a vote.  "What if Dave Matthews Band let fans pick the setlist?"  I drafted up a little poll and set it at 20 songs that fans would most like to see performed at a DMB show. I used the number 20 as it was the average number of songs performed in the Summer 2013 Tour. The voting was for full band studio album songs only, so covers and unreleased songs weren't included in the poll. As a member of, I knew there was a wide range of fans there, but that the "hardcore element" was adequately represented there, so I announced it to the community for voting. I was also aware of the DMB Family group on Facebook which had a representation of both hardcore and casual fans.  The poll was presented to both groups - the DMB Family and the AntsMarching group for voting.  The results were rather interesting.  I was surprised by how common the results were amongst both sides of the fence.  I've noticed in the past via social networking that the most outspoken fans on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook are from the casual fan side of the fence, so I made sure this poll was promoted on social networking as well, to draw in voters from the casual contingent.

In the end, the DMB Family brought 152 votes, whereas the AntsMarching group brought 96 votes - for a total of 248 votes. A full spreadsheet of the results can be downloaded here, in PDF format. Now, onto the results.

After putting those two groups results together, the conclusion was rather interesting. One, both groups like a majority of the same songs. Two, the combined results would lead to a fantastic show that would leave both hardcore and casual fans satisfied. In the event DMB ever did this, they could do it much like Metallica does - each show gets votes so each shows results could be slightly different, but a majority of these highly voted for songs would more than likely be present at each show. This goes to show the songs that fans are looking for at shows and what many consider to be their favorite songs.

RSD BF Wish List: Dave Matthews Band - Recently EP 10" Vinyl. 23 June 2014.

First, a little history. Remember Two Things, which we just saw released on vinyl for the first time, was released on November 9th, 1993. This album was a mix of live and studio work. The Recently EP came on May 17th, 1994. The original “promo cover” of Recently, now referred to as “Pumpkin Recently” featured a man holding a pumpkin and a partially exposed breast. The later release was different and didn’t include the pumpkin or the breast. A few months later, DMB’s first studio album, Under The Table And Dreaming, was released on September 27th, 1994.

With UTTAD coming on vinyl, presumably by the end of the year for the 20th Anniversary, that begs for Recently to see a release. It could be in a bundle with UTTAD, but I think the best option is to see it released on Record Store Day/Black Friday. I’m hoping management recognizes this and makes this happen.  And I think the pumpkin cover would be a nice throwback, as well.  I enjoy the Live Trax series as much as anyone, but I think this year would be a great year to take advantage of an opportunity to see Recently released on vinyl.

If you'd like to see this happen, help get the word out!

New Bowie 180 Gram Greatest Hits - Coming Soon! 20 June 2014.

This image may not look like much, but what it represents is something pretty exciting. Today, All Welcome Records announced on their Instagram account, " We're working on test pressings for a special David Bowie greatest hits release today. Available on 180 gram vinyl, street date is around the corner."  I was just speaking with some folks about this recently and I couldn't be more excited.  It's about time we got a new pressing of some Bowie material, and the fact that it's a greatest hits compilation makes it that much better.  The release is being handled via Warner Music Group / Rhino.

Office Space - Vinyl. 14 June 2014.

I was speaking with someone about this today, and I was surprised to find out that a good friend, who is a fellow vinyl enthusiast, wasn't aware this was even pressed. If you're not familiar, Office Space is a Mike Judge film that came a few years before "The Office", and is one of my personal favorite comedy films of all time. The soundtrack is fantastic. If you haven't picked it up, or weren't aware - TurnTableLab has this in stock on red wax, and is a must have for any collector or enthusiast.
